SCOPE OF WORK
TGP delivered the HVDC system for a paired transmission project: a 890 km transmission to carry power to Arizona and California.
TGP managed the transport of converters and transformers from Norrköping, Sweden, as well as general cargo from Scandinavia and across North, South and Central Europe to sites in Arizona and New Mexico. The scope included delivery and installation on to foundations.
In total, TGP transported 14 transformers, each weighing between 270 and 282 mt, on time and without incident. The HVDC system supports a 3.5 GW wind farm being developed in Arizona and New Mexico, USA. Once completed, this will be the largest wind project in the western hemisphere and one of the few to export power across state lines.
